Summary
During the last few decades the diagnostics, treatment and prevention of recurrent cystitis has been improved due to the additional insights into its pathophysiology, conduction of well-designed studies and development of international strategies in order to reduce the increasing antibiotic resistance and in proper antibiotic use. Our summary includes the latest American Association of Urology Guidelines on the treatment and prevention of recurrent uncomplicated cystitis. These guidelines aim to aid physicians in the evaluation and management of patient with recurrent cystitis and outline the importance of the proper antibiotic use and the latest strategies to reduce the antibiotic resistance.
