Summary
Approximately 25% of patients with bladder cancer presents with muscle invasive disease (T2–T4). Without treatment, the 5-year survival at this stage is very low, approximately 3%. Based on these, it can be seen that the treatment of muscle-invasive bladder tumour patients is of fundamental. Based on international recommendations, the most effective and preferred standard treatment option is surgery. In this treatment modality radical cystectomy, pelvic lymphadenectomy and urine diversion are performed after neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Radical cystectomy, its indications and technical execution have been described in other chapters, in this summary the various urine diversion techniques are summarized based on the recommendations of the European Society of Urology.
