Summary

Urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse (POP) are a common condition and seriously impair the quality of life of those affected. They occur primarily in the elderly and aging population. Therefore, the treatment, alleviation, and symptom relief of the complaints of this patient group is an increasingly important task, since with the continuous increase in life expectancy, more and more patients are experiencing these problems every year. Improving the quality of life of patients is therefore of increasing importance in healthcare. Based on the available domestic data, the author presents the current situation of continence and urogenital prolapse care in Hungary, without claiming to be complete, covering prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and care. He draws attention to the most important shortcomings and offers suggestions for solving them.
